When an ice machine matters to your business — and in hospitality, it always does — Hoshizaki is the brand that serious operators choose. Japanese-engineered, built with stainless steel evaporators instead of the nickel-plated copper that cheaper brands use, and backed by a 3-year compressor warranty. There’s a reason Hoshizaki machines are the standard in London’s best hotels and busiest bars.
ADK installs, services, and repairs Hoshizaki ice machines across London. We provide planned maintenance contracts specifically designed for ice machines, because these units need regular attention that most general HVAC contractors don’t prioritise.
The IM series produces Hoshizaki’s signature crescent-shaped ice cubes. This is the most popular ice machine range in UK bars and hotels. Crescent ice is slow-melting, clear, and displaces liquid well in a glass — exactly what you want for cocktails and premium drinks service.
We install and maintain IM series machines from the compact IM-21 (producing around 20kg/day) up to the IM-240 modular heads producing over 200kg/day for high-volume venues.
The KM series produces square cube ice — the standard for restaurants, cafes, and food service. Larger cubes, slower to melt, and produced in higher volumes than the crescent range. We service the full KM range across London’s restaurant and hospitality sector.
Flaker ice is a specialist product. Fishmongers use it for display counters. Some medical facilities need it. High-end seafood restaurants use it for presentation. The FM series produces soft, mouldable flaked ice that wraps around product for even cooling. Lower volume than the cube and crescent ranges, but essential where it’s needed.
Our Hoshizaki specialists operate across Central London and Shoreditch, delivering commercial refrigeration installations and responsive maintenance to restaurants, hotels, and food retailers.
Ice machines are more demanding than most people realise. They need clean water, clean air, and regular maintenance. Here’s what goes wrong when they don’t get it:
This is the number one issue with every ice machine, Hoshizaki included. London’s water is hard — heavy with calcium and limescite. Scale builds up on the evaporator plate, reduces heat transfer, and gradually kills ice production. A machine rated at 80kg/day that hasn’t been descaled in a year might be producing 40kg. We recommend descaling every six months as a minimum in London. Our PPM contracts include this as standard.
The solenoid valve that controls water flow into the machine fails over time. Symptoms include the machine not filling, overfilling, or producing thin, malformed ice. Straightforward replacement when diagnosed correctly.
Temperature sensors that monitor the evaporator plate drift or fail, causing harvest failure — the machine makes ice but can’t release it from the evaporator. The ice builds up, the machine faults, and production stops. We carry replacement thermistors for common Hoshizaki models.
Air-cooled ice machines need clean condensers. In a busy kitchen environment, grease, dust, and flour coat the condenser fins and restrict airflow. The machine runs hotter, works harder, and produces less ice. Eventually it trips on high pressure. Regular condenser cleaning prevents this — it’s included in every PPM visit we do.
One of the most common Hoshizaki faults we see is ice machine not making ice. Our engineers diagnose and fix this quickly, often on the same day you call.
The bin sensor tells the machine when the storage bin is full. When it malfunctions, the machine either runs continuously (overproducing and wasting energy) or stops prematurely (leaving you short of ice on a busy Saturday night). We test and replace bin sensors as part of our standard service.
The upfront cost of a Hoshizaki machine is higher than budget alternatives. Here’s why it’s worth it:
We offer planned maintenance contracts specifically for ice machines, separate from general AC and refrigeration maintenance. A typical ice machine PPM includes:
Regular maintenance isn’t optional for ice machines. It’s the difference between a machine that runs reliably for ten years and one that fails every summer when you need it most.
Every Hoshizaki system we install comes with a planned preventative maintenance option. Regular servicing catches minor faults before they become expensive breakdowns, keeping your Hoshizaki equipment running efficiently year-round.
